Immediately after the visit to my wife’s birthplace, we climbed the mountain. Like a lecture, for lovers of delicious geography)

Naryn (Kyrgyzstan: Naryn) is a city in Kyrgyzstan, the administrative center of the Naryn region and Naryn district.

The city is located in the Naryn depression at the foot of the Naryn-Too ridge at an altitude of 2000 m above sea level on the banks of the Naryn River, at the intersection of the Bishkek-Torugart highway.

Balykchi railway station is located 180 km north of Naryn on the shore of Lake Issyk-Kul. The distance to the Torugart border checkpoint located south of Naryn on the border with China is 186 km

The climate is sharply continental with cold, almost snowless winters and relatively cool summers.

Perhaps the Naryn River is the main tourist attraction of the city, and it’s not even about its fabulous beauty coastal landscapes. Calm and leisurely on the plain, in the mountains she seems to go crazy. Swift and wildit uncontrollably carries a white-foamed stream through the mountain gorges, resounding with its roar throughout the entire area.

The river is covetedthe dream of those whose bodies need constant bursts of adrenaline. Rafting of all difficulty levels - that's whatattracts extreme sports enthusiasts from all over the country and neighboring countries.

The rafting season on this unruly river lasts from April to November, and the level of difficulty varies depending ondepending on the time of year. Experts advise rafting here in the most “stable” water - at the end of August and September

The average temperature in July is from +15 to +17 degrees Celsius, in January from -15 to -18 degrees Celsius.

The history of the emergence of the city of Naryn is quite old. It was founded on the site of an ancient settlement that formed on the caravan road to Kashgar.

The etymology of the city's name has not been fully studied. In general, “Naryn” in Central Asia is a designation for a specific horse meat soup. Perhaps in these places they prepared it well, especially since horse meat is a national product inKyrgyzstan. Or perhaps the name of the city comes from the Mongolian “sunny” or Chinese “narrow”, whichthe sound is very reminiscent of the Kyrgyz “Naryn”.

Like many other Central Asian cities, Naryn arose as a small fortification on trade routes that led from East Turkestan (Kashgar) to Central Asia.

Until the 19th century there was no city as such in this area.

After bloody battles, the city was recaptured and finally came under the control of the Red Army.

In 1927, Naryn became the administrative center of the then-established Naryn region.

There will be a separate photo report about this cemetery.

The coolest thing in Kyrgyzstan is the cemeteries.

Today Naryn is the regional and district cultural and administrative center of the Naryn region and is located in the Naryn free economic zone. It is here that the head offices of state, private and public organizations of city and regional subordination, the consular department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, and the Torugart customs department are located.

Naryn is a completely modern, industrial city, with a developed social infrastructure.

The city stretches for 35 kilometers. It's so narrow.

Of the cultural and educational objects, the most interesting are: the state university, the local history museum, the music and drama theater and the national theater “Manas Ruhu”.

But of course, the main tourist interest is local attractions.

In general, Naryn and the adjacent region have amazing tourism potential, because 70% of the local territories are mountains, so picturesque passes, wild mountain rivers, deep gorges, eternal snow and glaciers, stunning lakes and waterfalls, as well as an ancient unique culture make these places absolutely unique.

Mind blowing, I would say.

And the cemeteries are incredible.

For lovers of ecotourism, the vicinity of Naryn is a real paradise.

Naryn is the starting point for many tourist routes running through the Tien Shan mountains. From here, hunting tours for mountain ibex and Marco Polo argali are organized, as well as multi-day walking and horseback expeditions that go to the peaks.

In 1994, trolleybus service was opened in Naryn. Naryn is one of the smallest cities in the world with a trolleybus.

As of January 2015, minibuses depart daily from the Naryn bus station to Balykchy, Bishkek and Karakol, as well as regular buses.

There are 1-2 departures to Balykchy per day (depending on the number of passengers), the fare is 300 soms per person. To Bishkek at the request of the passenger, either by minibus or taxi, throughout the day.

Also, if there are people willing, a minibus to the village of At-Bashy can be arranged, but the preparations can take up to 2-3 hours. You can get to the village of At-Bashy by taxi, the cost one way will be 100 soms, round trip 200 soms per person.

There the situation with roads and transport and lafa would be resolved. Otherwise there are practically only taxis, and even then some roads are impassable and you have to make a strange detour.

My son could be harnessed and dragged up a mountain of any difficulty. He's all for it. But I was lazy, I already have less strength.

My son takes great photographs. Especially considering that the autozoom broke right away. (Usually all my equipment always breaks down, and at once).

The child had to turn the manual zoom. I mostly did it, well done.

The belly has grown to be a nightmare. Our life in Moscow is too good. Or maybe I’ll swell from hunger, it’s unclear. Damn, I forgot to press Likify)

Power line towers followed us everywhere in Kyrgyzstan. Before that, I had not come across such towers for many years.

Meditation on the strength of power line support.

The Naryn region is located in the southeast of Kyrgyzstan, and was first formed on November 21, 1939 under the name “Tian Shan region”. On December 30, 1962, the region was disbanded, and its districts came under republican subordination. Naryn region was re-established on December 11, 1970. On October 5, 1988 it was merged with the Issyk-Kul region, and on December 14, 1990 it again became known as the Naryn region. The region borders in the east with Issyk-Kul, in the north with Chui, in the west with Jalal-Abad and Osh regions, and in the south with China. The region includes 5 districts (Ak-Tala, At-Bashi, Dzhumgal, Kochkor Naryn).

The administrative center of the region and the largest city of the Inner Tien Shan is Naryn city The city arose as a military fortification in 1865 on the site of a settlement located on the trade route to Kashgaria.

The total area is 45.2 thousand sq. km, which is 1/4 of the territory of Kyrgyzstan. Population - 249.1 thousand people, which is 5.2% of the republic's population.

The region is a mountainous region with complex terrain, located at an altitude of 1500 m above sea level, about 70% of its territory is occupied by mountain ranges. The largest are: Kokshaal (the largest mountain range 582 km long, dividing Kyrgyzstan with China), At-Bashy, Naryn, Zhetim, Moldo-Too, Suusamyr. The prevailing heights of the ridges are 3000-4000 m, the highest point is Dankov Peak (5982 m). The mountain ranges are separated by many valleys. The largest of them is Naryn. The Ak-Shyirak (Chaar-Tash) mountain range divides the Naryn valley into two: Alabuga and Toguz-Torouz. To the south of the At-Bashyn mountain range are the Aksai and Chatyr-Kul valleys, and to the west is the Arpa valley. The mountains: Baybiche-Too, Dzhaman-Too, Ak-Shyirak, Ala-Myshyk are characterized by steep slopes and short gorges. In the north of the region there are the Kara-Jorgo, Sonkel, Kabak, Jumgal ridges and the intermountain valleys of Jumgal and Kochkor. The rivers of the region flow into the basins of the Syrdarya, Tarim, Chu and Lake Chatyr-Kul. Naryn is the largest river, its length within the region is more than 400 km. The main tributaries of the Naryn River are: Chon and Kichi Naryn, On-Archa, At-Bashy, Alabuga, Kek-Irim, Kokemeren. The Chu River is formed from the confluence of the Zhun-Aryk and Kochkor rivers. The largest lakes in the region, Son-Kul and Chatyr-Kul, occupy depressions of tectonic origin.

The flora and fauna of the Naryn region are very diverse. Vertical zonality can be traced along the mountain slopes. Belts of mountain deserts and semi-deserts occupy the bottoms of valleys, their foothills, the coastal strip of rivers, and the low-lying parts of the basin of Lake Chatyr-Kul. The vegetation is dominated by wormwood, in some places feather grass, solyanka, and ephemerals are found, and there are tugai forests. The basin of Lake Son-Kul and some high-mountain valleys belong to the mountain-steppe belt. Here there are mountain steppes with a predominance of feather grass, wheatgrass, cobresia, wormwood and ephemerals. The mountain slopes surrounding the valleys belong to the subalpine zone. Subalpine forb meadows are developed on mountain meadow soils. Forests and shrubs occupy 3% of the region's territory. They are divided into coniferous and tugai forests.

The climate of the region is continental, winters are cold and long. The average January temperature is 15°C. The absolute minimum temperature (-50°C) was recorded in the Ak-Sai Valley. In the area of Lake Chatyr-Kul, in the Ak-Sai and Arpa valleys, and in the Son-Kul basins, winters are cold and summers are short and warm. Sharp temperature changes are typical during the day; frosts can occur even in the summer months. The average annual precipitation on the plains is 200-300 mm, in the mountains a little more. The period of heavy precipitation occurs in the second half of spring and the first half of summer, when 30-60% of the annual precipitation falls. In the valleys, the volume of precipitation increases from west to east. The height of the snow cover in the valleys is 15-20 cm; only in the Kochkor Valley, due to strong winds, snowfall is rare.

The nature of the Naryn region is rich and pristine. Today there are not many places on earth where a person can truly come into contact with wild, pristine nature, and this fully applies to the Naryn region, which has great potential for tourism development.

For a long time (during the times of the USSR), most of the territory of the Naryn region was closed to tourists, this circumstance largely made it possible to preserve huge natural complexes in a pristine state. And therefore, great prospects are now opening up for the development of ecotourism, organizing adventures, research expeditions and special tours. There are also recreational and medicinal resources, including: mineral springs, the Chon-Tuz salt mines, where a popular speleological clinic is open.

15 kilometers east of the city of Naryn there is an amazingly beautiful natural area called Salkyn-Tor (Cool Place), where Naryn residents love to spend their weekends.

On the territory of the region there are: the fortress settlement of Koshoy-Korgon (7th-8th centuries), Tash-Rabat - Caravanserai (15th century), the ruins of the Shirdak-bek fortress (10-12th centuries), the mausoleum of Tailak Batyr (19th century ), a site for Stone Age people (On-Archa) and other historical monuments.

With a population of just over 30 thousand people. However, it is listed as the center of the Naryn region, in which all the administrative structures of the region and cultural and educational institutions are concentrated.

The city is located just a couple of hundred kilometers from the state border with China near the Bishkek-Torugart highway. The city occupies the bank of the Naryn River of the same name, which is located in the mountains at an altitude of about 2 kilometers above sea level.

Almost the entire Naryn region, located in the southeastern part of Kyrgyzstan, is occupied by mountains. Periodically, mountain ranges give way to desert steppes or large forests, intermountain valleys and lakes.

The city of Naryn itself and its region can offer tourists a variety of tours, including not only active recreation, but also acquaintance with national traditions and characteristics, as well as trips to mountain springs, etc.

It is much colder in Naryn than in other cities of the republic. The arid climate in summer ensures that the weather is not hot and dusty, and in winter there are often severe frosts of about 20 degrees.

When coming to Naryn, get ready to find yourself in an amazing region with unique natural resources. The surrounding area enchants with picturesque landscapes of passes and gorges, the murmur of mountain rivers and waterfalls and the blue expanses of quiet lakes create a feeling of pristineness. In the area you can even look at real glaciers, impressive with their permafrost. By adding the rich cultural heritage of the region to admiring real nature, you can get an ideal holiday option for both an experienced traveler and a novice tourist who is just beginning to discover the beauty and power of natural wealth.

Naryn is the cultural capital of the region. In addition to the university and museums, it houses several theaters. Several hotels are available to visiting tourists, for example, “Heavenly Mountains” or “Kerme-Too”.

Most often people come to Naryn to begin their journey through the Tien Shan mountains. In addition to hiking, you can go on horseback riding tours, as well as hunting. The mountains among which the city is located form a unique landscape of high mountain ranges, pleasant to admire from the city.

The exact date of the settlement on this site is unknown. From history it is only clear that a trade route to Kashgar lay nearby. The city was officially founded in 1868, when a Russian army garrison was formed on this site.

During the revolution, in the fall of the 20th year of the last century, the city became a battleground for two warring parties - the communists and the White Army. The battle became one of the most significant historical events for the city, which claimed many lives. In the city center, authorities opened a memorial to the fallen soldiers.

The name of the city has several origins. The most popular are the name of a horse meat dish and a word of Mongolian origin that translates as “sunny.”

The must-see attractions of the region are, of course, the Tash-Rabat complex. It includes such ancient historical monuments as the caravanserai of the same name and

The Dolon Pass, located approximately 70 kilometers northwest of the Kyrgyz city of Naryn and one hundred kilometers southwest of the famous Lake Issyk-Kul, has a slope of 14%.

The height of the Dolon pass above sea level is 3038 meters. It is a plateau carved out by cattle, on both sides of which you can see the gentle slopes of mountain peaks. The asphalt highway Bishkek - Torugart runs through the gorge. The closest gorge to the pass is the Kara-Unkur gorge.

The Dolon Pass is one of the favorite places for collecting entomological material among ethnologists from all over the world, since in its area there are intact stations - areas of environmental space that have a set of conditions for the existence and residence of a certain species of animals and plants of both the Northern Tien Shan and Inland Tien Shan fauna and flora.

Orto-Tokoy Reservoir

The Orto-Tokoy reservoir, located 2 kilometers from the village of Orto-Tokoy in the Naryn region of Kyrgyzstan, was built in 1960 on the Chu River for the purpose of reclamation of the nearby area.

The length of the Orto-Tokoy reservoir is 18 kilometers, its width is about 3 kilometers, and its area is about 24 square kilometers. On the banks of the reservoir, where the water temperature does not rise above +15 degrees Celsius in summer, fishing enthusiasts from nearby settlements and guests of the country gather. Varieties of carp are found here: marinka and osman, as well as trout and whitefish - a genus of commercial fish of the salmon family.

Lake Sonkel

Sonkel is a fairly large alpine lake located in a basin between the internal spurs of the Tien Shan mountain system. It is an object of ecological tourism; on its coast there is a protected area and virgin pastures. The nearest large settlement is the village of Chaek.

The total area of the lake is 278 square kilometers, its length is 28 kilometers, and its width is 18 kilometers. Its depth ranges from 8.6 to 14 meters. The basin of Lake Sonkel is of tectonic origin; its shoreline is swampy, slightly indented, and in places overgrown with reeds. The lake is fed by small streams, and only one river flows out of it - Son-Kul. Freeze-up is observed here from September to the end of May.

According to various estimates, from 41 to 69 species of birds live on Lake Sonkel. It is an important migratory point for various waterfowl such as bar-headed goose, demoiselle crane, black-headed gull and black stork. Also, 10 species of fish live here, such as broad whitefish, whitefish, peled, naked osman, common marinka, Tibetan char and others.

Barskon Plateau

Those who come to Kyrgyzstan are most often drawn to the mountains, higher up to snow-capped peaks or plateaus, which increase the contrast with the prevailing heat.

One of the natural attractions can safely be called the Barskon plateau. It is located 300 kilometers from Bishkek. The great river of Central Asia, the Syrdarya, originates here, because it is in the glaciers of the Central Tien Shan that the Naryn River flows, which is one of its sources.

The Barskon Plateau is a swampy, hilly plain covered with permafrost and withered grass. But despite this, in good weather it is quite cozy and very beautiful here - the magnificent landscapes that open up are unlikely to leave lovers of beauty indifferent. It’s just that the numerous turns of serpentine that need to be overcome can make your head spin before you manage to reach the plateau.

By the way, in the gorge of the same name, which is located on the road to the plateau, there are two monuments to Yuri Gagarin: one made of natural stone, in which a local sculptor carved a monument, and which, under the influence of time, began to collapse, and not far from it there is a second monument, the construction of which A caring person helped raise funds.

Construction Tash-Rabat

Tash-Rabat is an outstanding work of Central Asian architecture. It is an almost square building (34.8 meters x 32.4 meters), and its walls face the four cardinal directions. The main gate faces east.

According to recent research, it has become clear that Tash-Rabat was built in the 10th century. The building was supposedly a refuge for Nestorian Christians or Buddhists. Later, during the development of the Silk Road, it began to serve as a caravanserai (hotel).

Tash-Rabat has 31 rooms, which are located around the hall, they are crowned with 20 domes and 11 vaults. Elements of baked clay plaster have survived to this day. Remarkably, the building has no roof. There is a legend about this, that Tash-Rabat was built by a father and son. When the last brick remained to be laid on the roof, the son saw a caravan in the distance and wanted to know who was going there. The son did not give in to his father’s persuasion to first finish the work and then go meet the caravan and left to meet the merchants, never returning. It turned out that a beautiful girl was traveling with the caravan, and the son wanted to stay with her. Therefore, the work was never completed.

The Tash-Rabat building has many underground passages, passages and prisons. Historians believe that refugees and hermits once hid here.

Story

Residential buildings in Naryn

Like many other Central Asian cities, Naryn arose as a small fortification on the trade routes that led from East Turkestan () to Central Asia. Until the mid-19th century there was no city as such in this area. With the annexation of Central Asia to the Russian Empire in 1868, a Russian garrison was stationed here and from that moment the construction of the city began.

After bloody battles, the city was recaptured and Soviet power was established here. In 1927, Naryn became the administrative center of the then-established Naryn region.

The etymology of the city's name has not been fully studied. Previously, the city was under the influence of the Dzungar Khanate, and the name of the city from Kalmyk (Oirat), the language of the inhabitants of Dzungaria, sounds like “Nәrn” and is translated as “NARROW” “NARROW”, from the name of the narrow river “Nәrn” - narrow, which in sound, fits “NARYN” There is also an opinion that “Naryn/naaryn” in Central Asia is a designation for a dish made from crumbled horse meat. Perhaps in these places they prepared it well, especially since horse meat is a national product in Kyrgyzstan.

Today Naryn is the cultural and administrative center of the Naryn region and is located in the Naryn free economic zone. THANK YOU so much for the very useful information in the article. Everything is presented very clearly. It feels like a lot of work has been done to analyze the operation of the eBay store

    • Thank you and other regular readers of my blog. Without you, I would not be motivated enough to dedicate much time to maintaining this site. My brain is structured this way: I like to dig deep, systematize scattered data, try things that no one has done before or looked at from this angle. It’s a pity that our compatriots have no time for shopping on eBay because of the crisis in Russia. They buy from Aliexpress from China, since goods there are much cheaper (often at the expense of quality). But online auctions eBay, Amazon, ETSY will easily give the Chinese a head start in the range of branded items, vintage items, handmade items and various ethnic goods.

      • Next

What is valuable in your articles is your personal attitude and analysis of the topic. Don't give up this blog, I come here often. There should be a lot of us like that. Email me I recently received an email with an offer that they would teach me how to trade on Amazon and eBay. And I remembered your detailed articles about these trades. area I re-read everything again and concluded that the courses are a scam. I haven't bought anything on eBay yet. I am not from Russia, but from Kazakhstan (Almaty). But we also don’t need any extra expenses yet. I wish you good luck and stay safe in Asia.

  • It’s also nice that eBay’s attempts to Russify the interface for users from Russia and the CIS countries have begun to bear fruit. After all, the overwhelming majority of citizens of the countries of the former USSR do not have strong knowledge of foreign languages. No more than 5% of the population speak English. There are more among young people. Therefore, at least the interface is in Russian - this is a big help for online shopping on this trading platform. eBay did not follow the path of its Chinese counterpart Aliexpress, where a machine (very clumsy and incomprehensible, sometimes causing laughter) translation of product descriptions is performed. I hope that at a more advanced stage of development of artificial intelligence, high-quality machine translation from any language to any in a matter of seconds will become a reality. So far we have this (the profile of one of the sellers on eBay with a Russian interface, but an English description):
