The tourist flow to the Republic of Cyprus is increasing every year. It is beneficial for the island to attract vacationers, so tourism infrastructure is being developed here: new hotels, roads and shops are being built, and historical and architectural attractions are maintained in proper condition. But guests are most attracted to the resorts of Cyprus with sandy beaches, and there are a considerable number of them here. Soft sand, smooth entry into the water, versatile water activities - this is appreciated by families with children, young people, and older people.

The most famous and largest Cypriot resorts are Ayia Napa, Protaras, Limassol, Paphos and Larnaca. They lie along the coast of the island. Almost all the beaches on the coast are sandy; they differ only in the color of the sand: natural black, yellow or bulk white. Most of them have blue flags for developed infrastructure and cleanliness, so you don’t have to worry about their environmental safety.

Many of them are municipal property, so entry to the beach is free, but you will have to pay for using all the infrastructure on the shore. This applies to renting sun loungers and umbrellas, and to riding catamarans or water slides.

Hotels in Cyprus with a sandy beach are in particular demand, so it is recommended to book rooms in advance. Let's look at the resorts in more detail from the point of view of beach tourism, including choosing ones suitable for families with children.

Ayia Napa

The resort town in the east of the island grew over several decades from a small village at the monastery of Ayia Napa (“holy avenue”). Now the ancient monastery functions only as a museum, and believers go to services in the new temple built nearby.

Today Ayia Napa is a major tourist city, focused on active and club recreation for young people. The city has countless clubs, bars, discos and souvenir shops. The best sandy beaches of Cyprus are located here, among them the following can be distinguished:

  • Nissi is the most famous beach in Cyprus, and accordingly, the area around it is occupied by the most luxurious hotels. Coastal restaurants, bars and hotels are vibrant even in the dark: lively music is played and noisy themed parties are held. The highlight of Nissi Beach is its white fine imported sand covering the coastal strip. Entertainment on the beach is available to people with different financial conditions and levels of physical fitness: this includes sailing on yachts and catamarans, bungee jumping, banana boat and parachute riding, and playing beach volleyball. After an active pastime, tourists can eat in numerous cafes on the seashore. Nissi Beach has vast shallow areas where the water warms up well even at the end of the swimming season. On the right side of the beach (if you face the sea) there are rocky areas. There is a small island in the sea not far from the shore, which can be reached on foot along a sand spit. Tip: Wear beach shoes when crossing the island to avoid injury from sharp rocks. The disadvantage of the place is that it is crowded.
  • Pantahou - located to the right of the fishing port. Stretched for more than a kilometer. The narrow beach strip is framed by a rocky shore with growing palm trees and acacias. The crowded shore becomes quiet only at night and in the pre-dawn hours. To relax with children on this beach, choose its left, calmer side. On the right side there are restaurants and hookah bars, discos and bars.
  • Landa, or New Golden Beach, is 400 m long and 50 m wide. The white sandy beach is a Blue Flag holder and is more suitable for children than Nissi. Landa Beach offers sports and entertainment equipment rentals, bungalows and restaurants, picnic areas and parking lots.
  • Makronissos is a non-party area 5 km from the resort center. Hotels attract families with children precisely because of this quiet shore with fine light sand and a gentle entrance to the sea.

There are others in the Ayia Napa area that are suitable for families with children: Ayia Thekla, Sandy, Krio Nero and Kermia.

Makronissos Beach

Protaras

This resort in the southeast of Cyprus is aimed at families with children. Located 10 km from Ayia Napa. When looking for resorts with good sandy beaches in Cyprus, many family tourists choose Protaras. On the shore there is white sand, developed infrastructure and a gentle entrance to the sea.

  • The beach in Fig Tree Bay has become a place of rest not only for visitors with children, but also for local residents. Crowded during the high summer season, the influx of tourists is reduced in September and May, when schoolchildren are in school. Elite hotels near the beach, operating on an all-inclusive basis, offer guests a variety of services: use of a swimming pool, boat trips along the coast, excursion trips to interesting places, rental of beach equipment: scuba gear, catamarans, boats. Budget hotels and boarding houses offer only comfortable accommodation for a low cost, sometimes with breakfast.
  • Konnos Bay is located 2 km from the center of Protaras. Not very suitable for families with children due to the steep or long descent to the sea, but perfect for scuba divers and divers.
  • Luma, the beach next to the Zolotoy Bereg hotel, is located in a cozy bay, protected from wind and waves. Golden sand, green date palms in the hotel area, cleanliness, shallow blue water - ideal conditions for a cozy family vacation.
  • Sunrise, a beach near the hotel of the same name, located on the shore. The uncrowded shore with fine sand stretches for 500 m. Entrance is free for everyone. Those staying in nearby hotels will find entertainment on the beach for children, young people and the elderly.
  • Flamingo is a beach with fine sand, where grassy green slopes descend directly to the water. Cyprus resorts offer not only passive, but also active recreation, Flamingo is no exception. Boats and steamboats, jet skis and paragliders, tennis courts are available to vacationers, and souvenir shops and cafes are open on the embankment. Quite a crowded place.

Beach at Fig Tree Bay

Limassol

This city in the south of the island is one of the largest in Cyprus, and one of the noisiest and most cheerful. Like many popular resorts, the city builds hotels of various levels of service to suit any budget, so both lovers of luxurious life and people on a limited budget come here. From Limassol you can go on boat excursions to Israel, Egypt or the island of Rhodes. You can have fun with your children in water parks, amusement parks and the zoo.

In Limassol, the beach area stretches for 10 km; the beaches are not only sandy, there are pebble and sand-pebble beaches. The sand in Limassol is dark volcanic, with impurities that are beneficial for human skin.

The best beach in Limassol is the sand and pebble Ladies Mile (“Ladies’ Mile”). It is very long, about 7 km in length, and has all the necessary infrastructure. Here you can go diving, karting, and yachting. There is also entertainment for children. Among the sand and pebble ones, you can also name Dasoudi, Akti Olympion, Governors, Pissouri, Aphrodite and Miami.

Ladies Mile

Larnaca

This city in the southeast has a long beach line of 25 km. There is no white sand here, so beloved by children. The beaches are covered with small pebbles or gray sand mixed with shell rock. The beach infrastructure is also very diverse. Among the beaches are the following: Finikoudes, Dhekelia, Mackenzie, Faros, Kastella, Yanates.

Finikoudes

Pathos

The city in the southwest of Cyprus, according to legend, is the birthplace of the goddess of love Aphrodite. She emerged from the sea foam on the shore of Petra tou Romiou. Within the city there are sandy, pebble and wild rocky beaches. We are considering only sandy ones where you can come for a comfortable holiday with children - Coral Bay, Corallia, Vrisudiya. Sandy and pebbly: Geroskipou, Latchi.

Petra tou Romiou beach

The coastline of Cyprus is heavily indented. And almost every, even the smallest, bay has a beach. What can we say about world-famous resorts with a high level of infrastructure and service. That is why choosing the best beaches in Cyprus is not an easy task. Each of them has its own unique characteristics. In addition, more than fifty Cypriot beaches have been awarded the Blue Flag. However, Grekoblog tried to select the best of the best and we believe that you will like them.

Makronissos, Ayia Napa

In one of the bays of the peninsula within the boundaries there is a small and calm Makronissos beach, where connoisseurs of the beauty of the coast and lovers of solitude close to civilization come. The entrance to the water is gentle, but occasionally there are stones at the bottom.

Connoisseurs of beauty and lovers of solitude come to Makronissos

On Makronissos you can enjoy water sports and diving, eat in one of the taverns or take educational walks around the area. After all, the beach is also interesting because just a few steps west of it, excavations of ancient Roman tombs and a small temple were recently completed.

Kourion, Limassol

17 km from Limassol there is a small but very picturesque sand and pebble beach of Kourion, where there are almost no vacationers on weekdays, even at the height of the season. Formally, this territory is part of the British area of responsibility, so mass development is prohibited here, which only benefits those who love postcard views of the coast. But this does not mean that there are no restaurants near this beach where you can have a little or not a little refreshment.

17 km from Limassol there is a very picturesque Kourion beach

A ferry sank off this coast in 1979, which attracts divers from all over Europe. Surfers also come to the beach. You can bring your own equipment or rent it at a rental point. It is better not to take children to Kourion and the like, especially since its eastern part is unsafe for swimming (there are prohibiting signs). Not far from the beach are the ruins of the ancient city of the same name.

Finikoudes, Larnaca

Along the central promenade of Larnaca, the city beach of Phinikoudes stretches for half a kilometer, famous, first of all, for the fact that many different festivals take place on its territory every season. Official celebrations begin, of course, on the embankment, but very soon the epicenter of events moves closer to the sea.

Finikoudes is famous for the fact that numerous festivals take place on its territory

So, in May, a colorful flower festival is held on the beach, and on the first Monday after the Holy Trinity on Phinikoudes, Cypriots have a long and vigorous celebration of Kataklysmos - the day of the rebirth of humanity. According to tradition, everyone who came to the embankment on this day must take a swim. The beach is sandy, the entrance to the water is gentle, so even children can observe this ritual. As part of any celebrations, water competitions are organized. Artists perform daily on the beach and embankment areas. The width of the coastal strip is from 30 to 100 m.

Latchi, Polis

In the village of Latchi, which is located near Polis, a town in the northwestern part of Cyprus, there are 2 beaches of the same name, which are separated by a harbor. One of them is located closer to the highway, the second is a little further from the highway. This coastline is well equipped. There are even special walkways for people with disabilities who want to take sea baths. The usual entrance to the water is rocky, but quite flat.

The beaches of Latchi are well equipped

These are the best beaches in Cyprus, located nearby, if only because they are not so popular among tourists who prefer noisy parties. And even at the height of the season there is enough space for everyone: the coastline is lost beyond the horizon. Connoisseurs of fish dishes love to come to Latchi, but they are unlikely to be able to visit all the local restaurants during their vacation. Not far from the beach is the Akamas Nature Reserve, where the famous baths of Aphrodite are located, where newlyweds and lovers love to come. Once a month, sea turtles swim to Akamas.

Nissi Beach, Ayia Napa

The best sandy beaches for the young and daring are Nissi Beach and some others in the resort of Ayia Napa, where everyone who wants unbridled fun, noise, and crowds comes during the season. This is where the most interesting and crowded parties take place, and this is where there are the most surfers and lovers of water attractions. In the middle of the water area belonging to the beach there is a narrow spit leading to the peninsula.

For the young and daring, the best sandy beach is Nissi Beach

Despite all its splendor, Nissi Beach has one serious drawback: the beach is located in the depths of a bay, the clear waters of which begin to bloom by mid-summer. Algae washed ashore are promptly removed by local services, but swimming in the sea with swaying sea grass may not be to everyone's taste.

Coral Bay, Paphos

In a horseshoe-shaped bay, 12 km from the center in the southwest of Cyprus, lies the sandy beach of Coral Bay, one of the most visited in Cyprus. This coast has long been chosen by wealthy Europeans, who began to build villas nearby during the reign of the British, so vacations and accommodation in local hotels are not cheap.

Near Coral Bay there are villas of wealthy Europeans

However, couples with children like to come here on weekends. The entrance to the water on the beach is gentle, the sea is warm, there is almost no wind. In addition to the usual relaxation, literally without leaving the beach, you can go shopping or have lunch in one of the taverns.

Fig Tree Bay, Protaras

The best beach in Protaras, a resort in the eastern part of Cyprus, is Fig Tree Bay, where couples with children like to come. The beach received this name, which is not very familiar to a Russian-speaking person, from an ancient grove of fig trees located nearby. The shore near the beach is quite wide, so even on weekends there is not much crowding.

The island of Cyprus attracts beachgoers from all over the world with opportunities to relax in the mild Mediterranean climate, swim in and sunbathe to the fullest on the sand or warmed-up small pebbles. Therefore, the tourist flow to this wonderful island is growing from year to year. But where are the best beaches in Cyprus? It is difficult to answer this question unambiguously. It all depends on what meaning you put into the concept of “best beach”.

It is clear that the sea must be clean. But almost the entire coast of the island is dotted with “blue flags” - signs guaranteeing excellent water quality and recreational areas. In addition, the local waters do not contain the fish that cause so much inconvenience to tourists in exotic countries. All the best beaches in Cyprus are municipal, which means entry to them is free for everyone, even if there is a five-star hotel on the shore. At the same time, there are rescuers on duty, there are first-aid posts and showers with

This is the basis, so to speak. Then it's a matter of taste. Some people like waves and fresh wind for surfing, others like a smooth entry into the sea for their little ones to splash. Which is better: sand or pebbles is a topic of endless debate among beachgoers, but in Larnaca both debating camps will be satisfied. At this resort you can find both areas with golden-gray sand and areas with pebbles. Many travelers with small children believe that the best beaches in Cyprus are located in Larnaca, since here the bottom drops very smoothly. And in these places there are areas with black volcanic sand. By the way, there are relatively few tourists at this resort, which allows us to call it a “romantic coast.”

In Limassol you can also find many sandy beaches. But here, immediately upon entering the water, there is great depth, which, of course, is convenient for adults. True, the sand in the recreation area is yellowish-gray. What if you can't tolerate pebbles in any form? Then the best sandy beaches in Cyprus are for you in Protaras and Ayia Napa. Almost everyone admits this. White like alpine snow, soft like a feather bed, without stones, the local sand gives the sea water a bluish tint. True, Ayia Napa is a favorite place for young people. The coastline is crowded and noisy, and in the evenings life here is in full swing - not a very suitable place for a holiday with small children.

For pebble lovers, the best beaches in Cyprus include Paphos. Even those who want to jump into the water from cliffs can find suitable places there for themselves. But there is also sand there - in the village of Lachi, located not far from the city. At least, divers speak only in glowing terms about Paphos. And surfers choose this region. Lovers of all kinds of entertainment will find a lot of interesting things to do in the recreation area of Geraskipou, which is four kilometers from the city. But for those looking for solitude, we can recommend Lara Bay - there are few tourists there, but you can watch how green turtles are raised.

What are the best beaches in Cyprus in the northern part of the island, which is currently considered Turkish-occupied territory? And it has its own pearls. Famagusta surprises with its snow-white sand. But the Kyrenia resort is suitable for everyone. The city itself has all the opportunities for diving. Five kilometers to the west there is a beautiful sandy beach, protected from wind and waves, with a sloping entry into the sea - you cannot find a better place for kids. Full European level beach service is located in Karaoglanoglu.

Cyprus has long been called the “Sunny Island”. There is everything for a comfortable stay: luxury hotel complexes, many entertainment centers, delicious food and friendly local people. And we should also note the amazingly beautiful beaches of Cyprus with white sand. We will talk about them.

The island has 340 sunny days a year. The air temperature rarely drops below 34C. The beaches are mostly sandy. These factors have turned the island into one of the best holiday destinations not only in summer, but also in any other season.

The best beaches in Cyprus with white sand and for families with children have been awarded the Blue Flag. It is awarded to coasts where water purity, safety, and environmental protection are maintained.

There are a total of 25 beaches in Cyprus that rightfully deserve this award. Most of them have snow-white sand, blue or jade water. Some of them are located near the rocks and form cozy picturesque bays.

We want to talk about the best, according to most tourists, white sand coasts.

Beaches of Ayia Napa

A few decades ago, Ayia Napa was a small village where local residents earned their living by fishing. But due to certain events (the annexation of the city of Famagusta to Turkish possessions), Ayia Napa began to turn into a first-class resort. Today it is one of the best places where you can have a good rest.

The resort's beaches, and there are several of them, have the Blue Flag award. So, here we have:

  • rescue towers;
  • taverns, cafes and restaurants where you can quickly and relatively inexpensively have a snack and refreshment;
  • rental points for water equipment and beach equipment;
  • toilets;
  • changing cabins;
  • showers.

Nissi Beach

It occupies a leading position in the list of Ayia Napa beaches. Its length is no more than 500 m, width - about 30 m. Fine white sand, clear water of a rich turquoise hue, a lot of people relaxing and having fun all day long - this is how you can briefly describe Nissi Beach. A suitable place for youth recreation with foam and themed parties. The coast is connected to the uninhabited island (“nisi” in Greek) by a thin strip of land. Hence the beautiful name – Nissi Beach.

Volleyball and football courts have been built nearby, as well as taverns and souvenir shops.

Renting one sunbed and umbrella will cost 5 euros for the whole day. On the coast there are changing cabins (you can use them for free), as well as showers and toilets (1.5 euros each).

Nissi Beach has many options for water activities: skiing, rowing, motor boats and speedboats, diving and surfing equipment.

During peak season, parties are held here every evening with live music and competitions that last until the morning.

Landa

Another coast with white sand. Located in the west of Ayia Napa, four kilometers from the center. It has a calmer atmosphere compared to Nissi.

It’s not scary to relax on it with a child. There is a smooth descent into the sea and shallow water. The waves are weak, and in the morning it is completely calm.

The sea is clean and has a beautiful turquoise hue. Trees and evergreen shrubs grow along the coast. A great backdrop for a colorful photo shoot!

There are dozens of taverns and shops nearby, and there is ample free parking. Umbrellas and sun loungers are available for rent (one costs 2.5 euros). From 10 in the morning until late in the evening, sellers of all sorts of things walk along the beach, offering tourists souvenirs, cotton candy, and carbonated drinks.

Makronissos Beach

The 500 m long coastline is located in the west of the resort of Ayia Napa. The neighboring beach, Landes, can be reached on foot in 3 minutes.

Tourists with children and those who cannot do without a cultural program go to Makronissos. There is a huge archaeological complex in this area; entry to the territory is free. Curious tourists have the opportunity to see the preserved sanctuary from the Middle Ages and dozens of rock tombs.

The coast itself is well developed. A rescue tower and rental of sunbeds and umbrellas are available 24 hours a day. A set (2 sun loungers + 1 umbrella) will cost 7 euros.

The water in the sea is clear, the bottom is sandy, without stones. Shallow water. An adult needs about 20 m to dive. But this is a more than suitable place for a holiday with small children.

Changing cabins, showers and toilets can be used free of charge. There are cafes along the beach serving delicious cold drinks and light Mediterranean dishes.

Crillo-Nero

Wide sandy coastline with a length of 700 m near the center of Ayia Napa. It originates in the area of a fishing village and extends to the east. The beach is surrounded by rocks, so there is no wind or high waves.

The warm turquoise sea warms up quickly, and the entrance to the water is gentle. The sand is fine, snow-white with a barely noticeable golden tint. Palm trees grow along Crillo Nero.

There is all the necessary infrastructure: rental of sun loungers and water equipment, taverns, showers and toilets. In addition, this part of the resort provides boat excursions to the underwater caves of Cape Greco. You can find out all the necessary information directly at the rental point.

Sandy Bay

Another example of a classic Cypriot beach is the azure sea, a clean and well-equipped coast with white sand. Look for it 350 m east of Nissi Beach.

Sandy Bay is a cozy bay, the rocks of which protect the coast from the wind.

Here you can ride a catamaran, water skiing, or a banana boat. There are restaurants and souvenir shops. The toilet and shower are free to use.

Beaches of Protaras

A small village in the south-eastern part of Cyprus, Protaras, has two excellent white sand beaches - Konnos Bay and Fig Tree Bay. Both were awarded the Blue Flag.

Konnos Bay

The coast, 250 m long and 35 m wide, is located 2 km southeast of the center of Protaras, on the border with Ayia Napa. There are few vacationers with small children here due to the sharp descent into the water. There are stones at the bottom of the sea. But the place is very beautiful: the beach is surrounded by greenery.

Mostly those who like to jump into the water from cliffs and scuba dive come here. Nearby is the national treasure of Cyprus - Cavo Gkreko Park. You can go to the water equipment rental office and arrange an excursion.

The extreme reaches of Konnos Bay are completely wild. It's quiet and peaceful here. A great place for a romantic, secluded getaway!

Fig Tree Bay Beach

Unlike Konnos Bay, the coast of Fig Tree Bay is wildly popular among tourists with children. There is a gentle entrance to the water, shallow water, and there are rarely waves.

Umbrellas and sun loungers are available for rent (a set will cost 5 euros). You can ride an electric motor boat, a catamaran, or a jet ski.

Tourists sunbathe on their towels for free, and entry to the beach is free. You can also use the toilet, changing cabin and shower for free.

There are three parking lots near Fig Tree Bay Beach. This is justified: there are always a lot of people here, even at the end of October, when the season is coming to an end. Finding a free space both in the parking lot and on the beach itself can be quite problematic.

The white sand beaches of Cyprus are amazingly beautiful places where millions of tourists vacation every year. Choose the coast, taking into account your preferences and needs. The island has both completely wild beaches and well-equipped places for friendly family holidays.

It’s a pity that our compatriots have no time for shopping on eBay because of the crisis in Russia. They buy from Aliexpress from China, since goods there are much cheaper (often at the expense of quality).
