Air travel has long become an everyday event for passengers; they arrive at the airport at the appointed time, go through security, wait to board, and settle down on board. Most of us don’t even think about how much knowledge and achievements the developers needed to get such a machine into the air, ensure the safety of those on board, and make their journey comfortable.

Features of this class of aircraft

Depending on the airline, flight distance and passenger volume, you may find yourself on board a small or large aircraft. You shouldn’t focus only on size when talking about comfort and trust in the carrier, because even models that are small compared to their “colleagues” can be strong and durable. In Russia, Boeing 777 300 is increasingly being used to transport passengers. This is a twin-engine aircraft, so it cannot be the largest or most powerful in the world. However, the manufacturers of the Boeing 777 300 have found their niche for it - this is the largest aircraft in its class. Making the most of its technical capabilities attracted airlines, and this aircraft entered service for the first time in 1998. The positive dynamics of behavior in the airspace and the minimum percentage of breakdowns according to statistics have made the Boeing 777 300 one of the most tested.

Aircraft design data

The general design of the Boeing 777 300 naturally depends on the design features. This model has an elongated fuselage, which allows it to reach high speeds,
better cope with the flow of oncoming air.

In addition, it increased the overall capacity of the aircraft. The maximum take-off weight ranges from 263,080 to 299,370 kg, with a weight excluding passengers and cargo of 155,500 - 158,480 kg.

Of course, the passengers of the Boeing 777 300 do not see all this. The interior layout for them is limited to the passenger compartment. The cabin width is 5.87 m. This is enough for the comfort of passengers and the convenience of flight attendants who serve food and drinks.

Counting passengers on board

The number of seats on the plane may vary. This is due to the fact that the interior decoration depends on the class for which the board is designed. If it is an economy class aircraft, the seats are located at the same distance throughout the aircraft, saving space allows you to make their number maximum - 550 seats. There are certain flights that are popular among economy class passengers, and models of this edition can be selected for them. The combination of basic and business class demonstrates the company's marketing move, because the total number of people will be 479, but some of them will pay almost twice as much for the ticket. There are models with greater variability, for example, a combination of economy, business and first class. There will be 368 places. It is worth considering that this Boeing model has an improved version - ER. Here there will be fewer seats in the last of the presented methods of filling the cabin, namely 365. This is not the general “Boeing 777 300” scheme. Transaero re-equipped the aircraft to suit its needs, and other domestic and foreign companies did the same. If the manufacturer offered 3 types of passenger service programs, then here there are 4 of them: imperial, business, economy, tourist. In this regard, the total number of seats is 373.

Interior design

The interior of the aircraft is designed with curved smooth lines. They make the interior look more modern. They also allow you to increase the volume of luggage compartments above the seats and hide the lighting in the folds of the ceiling, making it indirect.

There are toilets and kitchens on board, which can be easily moved if the company wants to refurbish the aircraft. The salon seats are arranged in threes, forming three columns, each row of which has 9 seats. This is convenient, since you can approach the passenger from both sides. For those who like to sit by the window, there are many seating options; you just need to register for the desired seat. In terms of convenience, it is more logical to choose one of the outer seats in the middle row, because it will not be blocked by other passengers, and you will not have to lift people up to get out for your needs. Traditionally, the total number of toilets on board is 7; passengers visit one or another, based on the class of ticket and the proximity.

Secrets of choosing a good seat on a plane

For those preparing to fly on a Boeing 777 300, the cabin layout and the best seats will be of most interest. Let's consider one of the interior modifications, which is most often used in the CIS countries.

The Imperial compartment is located in close proximity to the access hatch and behind the cockpit. This zone is considered the most comfortable in terms of pressure level, and passengers are served first here. This class is expensive, so there are only 4 seats for it, one at the windows and two in the center of the cabin. Here, more space is provided for each passenger, which allows you to lie down while making a long flight. The chair reclines 180 degrees and is equipped with a 23-inch diagonal monitor.

After a certain limiting space comes the Business sector. Here there are 2 seats at the windows, and 3 in the center, 2 rows are provided. In total, it can accommodate 14 passengers. The level of comfort is also high, the chair takes an almost horizontal position, there is enough space for everyone.

Of course, both of the described classes represent the best, but, alas, not cheap places.

Budget accommodation

Economy class is the most popular type of travel. What do you need to know about the places? There are 133 of them, each with a small monitor and a limited amount of space. As always, the first and last rows are controversial in terms of comfort. Row No. 10 will abut the wall of the toilet. There are fasteners for baby strollers here, and the tables are built in and cannot be removed.

However, the inconvenience is compensated by a large amount of legroom, which will be important for tall passengers. Row No. 26 is also located against the wall. The seats don't recline, and if you're on a flight longer than 3 hours, it can get unbearable. The toilet door will constantly slam, and sufferers will crowd around you, so avoid these places when checking in for your flight.

Tourist class includes 222 seats. The “first” rows here are Nos. 27 and 40, and the “last” rows are 39 and 52. These are inconvenient places. If you have no choice and have to choose a seat in these rows, choose seats A or K, they are by the window and will save you at least a little

When planning to fly to the islands for vacation or on business abroad, the inexperienced traveler has a question: how to fly safely and comfortably, how to choose the best places. Intercontinental transportation of passengers is carried out by a comfortable Boeing 777 airliner (made in the USA) with a three-row seating arrangement. The aircraft's capacity ranges from 300 to 550 people. The cabin layout of the Boeing 777 200 will help you choose a comfortable seat in the appropriate class so that the flight brings maximum comfort.

The aircraft's flight range is 17,000 kilometers. Boeing modifications 200 and 300 have been operated by world airlines since 1994, during which time they have acquired a reputation as the safest aircraft.

The largest air carriers in Russia are the following companies:

  • Transaero;
  • Aeroflot;
  • Nord Wind (North Wind);
  • Orenair (Orenburg Airlines);
  • S7 (Siberia);
  • Ural Airlines and others.

Using the example of Transaero aircraft, the layout of the seats in the Boeing cabin is shown in the photo. To improve conditions, the carrier modernized the cabin, so the capacity of the aircraft is 323 people. The distances between the rows have been increased and seats have been added. The arrangement of seats on different Transaero ships is different: 2-5-2 or 3-3-3 for economy, tourist, 2-3-2 for business class (groups of two and three seats are staggered).

On Transaero flights, travelers will be provided with:

  • warm blankets, pillows;
  • varied food, drinks;
  • alcohol;
  • travel kits.

Nord Wind airline Boeing 777 interior diagram

Nord Wind airlines have two sectors with different levels of comfort: business and economy. For a high class of comfort, the Nord Wind company allocates only the first row (for 6-7 people). There are 10 seats in one economy class line - the order is 3-4-3 (see photo). The interior spaces of Nord Wind's aircraft are cramped compared to other carriers (see photo). But the liner carries more passengers per flight - its capacity is 393 people.

Aeroflot airline uses an improved modification. The space of the Boeing 777 300 aircraft (see photo) is divided into 4 sectors:

  • business – rows 1-5 with 2-2-2 placement, located at an angle of 45 degrees;
  • comfort - arrangement 2-4-2, 11-16 rows;
  • space plus – rows 24-37, arrangement 3-4-3;
  • economy - rows 38-51 (up to 46 rubles - order 3-4-3, from 47 rubles grouping is used
  • 2-4-2).

  • video monitor.

Orenburg Airlines offers the following classes:

  • Business - 14 places;
  • Premium – 34 seats;
  • Economy – 316 seats.

How to sit comfortably in the cabin

The best seats are undoubtedly at the front of the aircraft, where business and first (comfort) class are located. Some aircraft have an additional imperial level for elite passengers (Transaero). The business level has more comfortable seats. But there are nuances here too. The proximity of toilets and the occasional queue for them can cause discomfort to passengers sitting nearby. This applies to companies that allocate more than 20 seats for the business level (Aeroflot). In this sector, the seats are located at a considerable distance from each other (125-150 cm), which allows passengers to relax during a long flight and stretch their legs.

In the middle of the aircraft there are seats for economy class passengers. Here the distance between the seats is smaller, so a tall person will be uncomfortable.

Proximity to the kitchen, toilets of the first and last rows can cause discomfort. You should not choose chairs close to the aisle; there is a chance that those passing by will touch you with their hands or step on their feet.

In the passenger seats at the rear of the plane, the sound of running engines can be heard. The distance between the seats is only 20-25 cm. In addition, turbulence in the rear is felt harsher.

The best seats on a Boeing 777, regardless of level, are those located in the middle. You should also choose a plane with no more than 3 seats in a row in one line. For example, the landing option is 3-3-3. When arranging 2-5-2 seats, it is better to choose those that are located near the hull of the ship.

The breakdown of seats by sector, like other systems, was designed using computer modeling, but carriers retain the right to modernize the seating arrangement, remove or add seats. It directly depends on the airlines how comfortable the flight will be for the passenger.

The Transaero company has 9 Boeing 777-200 modifications. Currently, the Boeing 777 series airliners are among the largest jet passenger aircraft with two engines.

The Boeing 777-200 has various configurations that can accommodate from 306 to 550 passengers, with a flight range from 10 to 17 thousand km. Transaero Airlines operates two configurations of this aircraft, with 306 and 323 seats, in 4 and 3 class cabins, respectively.

It should be noted that according to global standards, only 3 classes are allowed - first, business and economy, but in practice, airlines create “subclasses”. You can read more about classes of service on airplanes here - link.

The Transaero company divides the cabin into the following classes on its aircraft: imperial, premium (a subtype of business class), business class, economy class and tourist class (a subtype of economy class).

So, let's look at the layout of the Boeing 777-200 cabin in a 4-class layout and figure out which seats are the best and which ones should be taken last.

Imperial class

Imperial includes first class seats - all comfortable. The salon has 12 comfortable sofa chairs that transform into beds. Near each chair there is an LCD monitor and a stationary table. The bathroom is located directly in the cabin.

Business Class

Basically, in this class, all 14 seats are characterized by increased comfort. However, you should pay attention to the places 5 rows (C, D, E), the seat backs are fixed or can be limited in reclining.

Economy class

IN 10th row The seats can be called not very comfortable due to the partition located in front. The disadvantage is the close placement of toilets, where passengers will walk and queues will accumulate.

IN 29 row The seat backs may be fixed or limited in reclining due to the fact that there is a partition or emergency exits behind them. But it is better to clarify this nuance with a company representative before purchasing tickets.

In addition, the seats in this row are located between economy and tourist class and near the restrooms. Therefore, it would be impossible to call them comfortable.

Tourist class

IN Row 30 seats A, B, H,K located next to the emergency exit, this means you will have extra legroom. For passengers making a long flight, this factor is of no small importance.

However, the location of these places in close proximity to restrooms can create inconvenience during travel.

30 row seats C, D, E, F, G located near the toilets and in front of them there is a partition.

Rows 42 and 43 located at the end of the salon. The backrests of the seats are most likely limited in reclining or fixed at all, since there is a wall of toilets behind them. However, all these inconveniences are more than compensated by the main advantage - guaranteed safety. According to global statistics, when airliners crashed, 66% of survivors were in the tail.

In May 2012, I traveled from Moscow to Los Angeles on a direct flight of Transaero Airlines, which opened just a few days before my flight. Transaero operates flights to Los Angeles on Boeing 777 aircraft. It is noteworthy that I was able to fly on 2 types of this airliner at once: the flight from Moscow to Los Angeles was made on a Boeing 777-200, and the return flight on a longer Boeing 777-300.

Based on this, the entire review consists of 4 parts:
1.
2.
3.
4.

The path was long. That's why there were a lot of photos. Next in order.

1. Domodedovo Airport

Regular flights of the Transaero airline from Moscow to Los Angeles (as well as to 2 other US cities - New York and Miami) are operated from the capital.

Today Domodedovo is the largest airport in the country. It has only 1 large passenger terminal, which is constantly growing both in length and width.

Transaero, as one of the largest base airlines, has a separate sector at the Domodedovo airport terminal, which includes a representative office, beautifully decorated with an aquarium along the entire length of the information desk...

And a row of dedicated check-in counters located across the aisle.

After passing through border control there is the international departures area of the airport with numerous Duty Free shops.

2. Boeing 777-200 aircraft. Flight Moscow - Los Angeles.

The cabin of the Boeing 777-200 aircraft of Transaero airlines is divided into 3 classes of service - business, economic and tourist.

Business class for 14 seats in the bow of the aircraft (2-3-2 layout) is equipped with special seats:

Economy class differs from simple economy class in seat pitch and upholstery color.

Economy class cabin (2-5-2 layout, located in the middle of the plane):

Tourist class cabin (arrangement 2-5-2, located at the rear of the aircraft):

I was on one of the first Transaero flights to Los Angeles and the load at that time was very low. A couple of people were sitting in business class, about 20 people were in a huge economy class, and only the tourist class with the cheapest air tickets was more or less about a third full.

Therefore, flying for 12 hours on an empty plane was very comfortable. Many slept like this, on 5 chairs at once:

Transaero's Boeing 777-200 is far from new. The salons are equipped with 1990s style seating. I looked on the Internet out of interest - this aircraft (tail number EI-UNV, modification of Boeing 777-200ER) was released in 1999 and was previously operated by an American airline, and then by an Indian airline. Transaero has been operating the aircraft since 2010.

A video system, probably of the first generation, is mounted in the back of each chair. Small monitors only show flight information and an online map.

The audio system control panel is built into the armrest. Listening to channels through headphones.

Above each passenger seat, high in the ceiling, there are individual lighting lamps and a fan.

The luggage racks are placed very well in a wave-like pattern under the ceiling.

The shelves are very spacious. Much more than meets the eye.

Each Transaero passenger receives an individual set for a long flight - a blanket, slippers and a blindfold.

In the seat pocket you can also find a thick in-flight magazine and a movie catalog.

Since movies cannot be watched on the in-flight system, the airline offers rentals of portable video players. But this service is already paid - 1000 rubles per flight, including changing batteries in case of discharge.

A pleasant surprise for me was the sets with disposable toothpaste and brush. They could be found in every toilet room.

By the way, there are a lot of toilets on the plane. They are located in several parts of the cabin.

During the flight, hot meals were served 2 times. Water of various types was distributed many times and in large quantities - for this Transaero would like to give a big “plus”; not all airlines have sufficient supplies of drinking water on board.

Aperitif before meals:

First meal (chicken with rice + salad, cheese):

Second meal (omelet and dessert):

The most vivid impressions of the flight itself are the massive Pratt-Whitney engine behind the window:

Cloudless sky over Canada; Below is the city of Calgary, I was there 10 years ago, it was interesting to see familiar places from above:

And the endless residential areas of Los Angeles (in the photo, right under the wing of the skyscrapers of the city center):

Our plane arrived at Los Angeles airport:

3. Los Angeles Airport. International terminal.

It has 10 passenger terminals located in the letter "P". Most flights of foreign airlines (including Transaero) operate from the largest terminal called “International”. Other terminals are mainly divided among major US airlines, each for a specific carrier's own flights.

From the outside, the international terminal does not look at all presentable:

Immediately upon entering there is a large square hall with registration desks. On the second floor there is a cafe and border control, and behind it there are long corridors to the left and right with boarding gates.

Here is our plane. Boarding is carried out via a telescopic bridge.

4. Boeing 777-300 aircraft. Flight Los Angeles - Moscow.

The main difference between the Boeing 777-300 and the 777-220 is a longer fuselage that can accommodate more passengers. At Transaero Airlines, the passenger cabin of the 777-300 is radically different from the 777-200. The liner also has 3 classes of service, divided into 4 cabins - business (in the bow), economy (in the middle) and 2 tourist class cabins (in the tail).

The arrangement of seats in economy is made according to the 3-3-3 scheme. And the chairs themselves are completely different - newer. Overall, the interior looks brighter and more beautiful. It can be seen that the plane is more recent.

Economy class - red seats with increased pitch:

Tourist class - blue seats:

The chairs themselves are thin and light. Upholstered in modern bright fabric. However, they recline to a shorter distance. Overall, I found them less comfortable for a long flight than the old seats on the 777-200. But this is my subjective opinion.

An undoubted advantage of the new cabin is a modern entertainment system with a large screen in the back of each seat.

During the flight, you can watch movies, the flight map or play games. Control is performed using touch buttons directly on the screen.

Toilet cabins have an updated interior. However, this time I did not find any sets with toothpaste and brush.

The provision of food is similar to the first flight - first nuts with drinks of your choice, then the first hot meal with meat, after 4-5 hours the second meal (this time there were pancakes instead of an omelet). Water without restrictions, after the 4th glass of water I asked for, they simply gave me the whole bottle.

Finally, an important note on luggage. I didn’t read the airline’s rules before the flight and that was in vain. Payment for luggage transportation from Transaero is made not by weight, but by the number of pieces. One piece of luggage can be checked in free of charge, all subsequent pieces are subject to an additional fee. Personally, I didn’t think to pack my luggage in one large bag and flew with two small ones. Therefore, for the second bag in Los Angeles I had to pay 50 US dollars before departure.

Conclusion: Transaero Airlines tries to provide passengers with the necessary level of comfort and services on long-distance flights. Wide-body aircraft and traditional service provide sufficient comfort during a long flight. What catches your eye is the lack of a unified airline style, characteristic of Russian Aeroflot, S7 Airlines, as well as most leading foreign carriers. On the flights described above, I was under the impression that the flight was on different airlines. The design and color scheme of the cabins, the condition of the aircraft, and the working styles of the staff were so excellent.
