The Crimean coast annually attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists from Russia and other countries of the world with its resorts. The most comfortable option to get to magnificent beaches and warm seas is air travel. The key air harbor of Crimea is Simferopol International Airport.

Where is the airport in Simferopol?

Simferopol airport has a very convenient location. It is located quite far outside the city - to the urban-type settlement of Aeroflotsky, but getting to it is not at all difficult, because it is only 12 km away from the center. The most convenient way to travel this route is by Aeroexpress. Buses and trolleybuses united by this brand depart to the city around the clock with an interval of 10 minutes.

Airport terminal on the map of Crimea

History and infrastructure

Simferopol Airport begins its history back in 1936, when, by decision of the USSR Council of Ministers, land was allocated for the construction of an airfield, which soon began receiving flights from Moscow.

In 1957, an air terminal was built here, and a dirt runway equipped with signal lights was created. The first concrete runway appeared in 1960. Interestingly, in the mid-80s. The air harbor was chosen as a reserve for the landing of the Buran space shuttles. Especially for them, the size of the landing strip was increased to 3700 m. In May 2015, it was reconstructed and now meets international standards. Today, another terminal and runway are being built, which is scheduled to be completed by May 2018.

Today, the Simferopol airport complex includes two terminals, one of which receives Aeroflot aircraft operating domestic and international flights, and the second serves other Russian carriers. The building also houses a comfortable VIP room and a mother and child room. Passengers are prepared to be fed in several cafes. In the departure areas there are shops and airline representative offices, and in the arrivals areas there are points of mobile operators, information desks and taxi ordering points. There are 35 rooms within walking distance. Cargo transshipment is carried out in a special terminal.

The administration of the complex makes every effort to make it more comfortable. All conditions have been created here to serve passengers with disabilities. There are special counters for registering children's groups.

Destinations served

Today, Simferopol Airport is one of the most dynamically developing transport hubs in the country. In 2016, it served more than 5.2 million passengers carried by 14 Russian airlines. Constant air service has been established with 9 cities of the Russian Federation. During the holiday season, 15 more destinations are added, making direct flights available to residents of various regions of Russia. Here are the main departure points:

Throughout the year there is air communication between Simferopol and Sochi. Through transit routes - with a transfer in Moscow or St. Petersburg - residents of Kazan, Krasnodar, Nizhny Novgorod and Orenburg can get to Simferopol airport. In summer, the capital of Crimea accepts charters from Krasnoyarsk, Kemerovo, Irkutsk, Omsk, Khabarovsk, Ufa, Perm, Chelyabinsk and many other Russian cities. Price levels are affected by seasonality, but they remain quite affordable for most Russians. You can save additional money if you buy air tickets in advance and pay for the round trip trip at once.

Online departure and arrival board

Modern technologies allow tourists and business citizens located in any corner of the planet to stay informed about all the changes that Simferopol Airport makes to the schedule. The online departure and arrival board is an ideal tool for planning a trip to the resorts of Crimea. With its help, you can find out when the flight to the desired destination will take place, as well as arrival details. The online scoreboard of Simferopol Airport is now available on our website, here it is:

How to get to and from the airport?

There are good transport links between Simferopol airport and the main resorts of the peninsula. You can get to the desired location by rail, through the capital's station, by public transport or taxi.

  • Evpatoria. The cheapest way to get to this resort from the airport is by train. To do this, you need to take buses No. 49, No. 49A or trolleybus No. 9 and get to the stop. You can buy a ticket at the station ticket office for 60 rubles. Electric trains depart at intervals of three hours, and travel time is 2 hours. Buses and minibuses leave in 15-20 minutes. You will have to spend about an hour and a half on the road at a price of 200 rubles. If you have children traveling with you, have a lot of luggage and can pay 1800-2500 rubles, then it’s worth ordering a taxi.
  • Sevastopol. The 80 km distance that separates the cities can be overcome in several ways. Having paid 100 rubles. and spending a little less than two hours on the road, this can be easily done by trains departing from at intervals of three hours. There are 14 bus services daily. For a two-hour journey you will need to pay 143 rubles. Transfer prices start from 1600 rubles.
  • . The most convenient way to get from Simferopol airport to Yalta is by trolleybus No. 55. Cars run along this route from 4:30 to 20:30 every day - with an interval of 20 minutes. You will spend a little more than two hours on the way, paying 90 rubles for the journey. Intercity buses and trolleybus No. 52 to Yalta depart from Kurortnaya station. The interval between exits is 15 minutes and the fare is 110 rubles. By taxi, the distance to Yalta can be covered in 1.5 hours. The cost of a trip in comfortable conditions, during which you will see Alushta, Angarsk Pass, Massandra in all its glory, starts from 1,500 rubles.
  • Feodosia. There is no direct railway connection between Simferopol and this resort, and a route with a transfer, for example, in Dzhankoy, will increase travel time by 2.5 times. As a result, it is better to cover the distance of 114 km by intercity bus, which goes to the Kurortnaya station. The duration of the trip will be from 2 to 3 hours, and the ticket will cost about 200 rubles. Transport exit interval is 15 minutes. The cost of a taxi ride starts from 2000 rubles.

Buses from the bus station near the airport regularly run to other populated areas of Crimea, including even small resort villages.

By getting to Crimea by air, you can save time by not wasting several days of a short vacation on a tedious road. Simferopol Airport is capable of receiving hundreds of airliners, bringing millions of tourists to the peninsula, and its staff will do everything to ensure that the arrival and departure of guests takes place in the most comfortable environment!

Where does Crimea begin? For more than 5 million people a year, Crimea begins at Simferopol Airport, where planes fly in from all over Russia. Quite recently, a new terminal opened in Simferopol. Of course, I followed the progress of construction and could not miss such an event and hurried to visit the new modern air terminal complex. The building surprised and pleasantly surprised.
Now I’m ready to talk in detail about the newest airport complex in Russia.

The new terminal is located several kilometers away, and was catastrophically unable to cope with the sharply increased passenger traffic even after reconstruction and the construction of additional terminals. In 2015, it was decided to build a new modern terminal from scratch. The new terminal complex is capable of serving 3,625 passengers per hour and 6.5 million passengers per year.

Leading international agencies were involved in creating the concept of the airport terminal; a competition was announced, which was won by one of the world's leading architectural companies, Samoo Architects & Engineers from South Korea, related to Samsung. Inspired by the nature of the Crimean peninsula, the designers took the image of the sea as the main idea, calling the project “Crimean Wave”.

The concept turned out to be very unusual; the terminal building has curved contours on all sides except the ends, where space is left for the expansion of the terminal. The new terminal of Simferopol Airport does not have a constant height. It ranges from 25 to 35 meters at different points.

The history of design and construction turned out to be very fascinating and reads like a science fiction story, except that everything has already been implemented, and in a very short time and from materials mainly of domestic production. Design work based on the chosen concept was also carried out by Russian companies.
The main stages of construction are shown in a small exhibition located right in the terminal.

When designing the new terminal of Simferopol Airport, the greatest attention was paid to the safety of the structure. The building is not only beautiful and functional, it is also earthquake-resistant. In addition, the roof is designed and installed in such a way that the accumulation of storm and melt water on its surface is excluded.

To create a unique silhouette of the new airport complex, reminiscent of the “Crimean wave,” more than 5,700 tons of metal structures were installed and 136 unique curved columns up to 35 meters high were erected. It is thanks to them that the unique silhouette of the “Crimean wave” is formed.

Also, 24 round support columns with a diameter of 1 m were installed on the side of the main facade, on which the rafter and sub-rafter trusses of the roof of the building rest, the span of which is 63 meters.
The glazing of the new terminal is as unique as the entire building. A total of 130 stained glass windows consisting of 9 thousand unique double-glazed windows were installed.

I suggest taking a walk around the Simferopol airport. Unusual details appear already at the entrance to the airport. Pay attention to this bus, in fact, it is not a bus, but a trolleybus. The new terminal is served by trolleybuses that are capable of moving autonomously for part of the route.

The areas near the airport are organized taking into account the characteristics of Crimea as the largest resort. Parking lots for buses, on which organized groups of tourists arrive and depart, are located under canopies, separate from the rest of the transport.

Let's go inside. The airport complex amazes with its size and spaciousness. It has everything that modern airports should have.

I would like to note that the prices are quite humane compared to other airports. Packing luggage costs 200 rubles, which is several times cheaper than at the airports of the Moscow air hub.

The new airport complex has 28 elevators and 16 escalators for the convenience of passengers. The vast majority of elevators are designed as an element of a barrier-free environment that meets the needs of visitors who have difficulty moving independently: passengers with strollers, passengers with disabilities, and older people.

The building is managed using an automated building management system (ABMS). It allows for operational monitoring, remote control and control of all engineering equipment of the terminal from a single dispatch center. The normal operating mode of the system is automatic. The automated control system provides control in automatic and manual modes of the following technological subsystems: ventilation and air conditioning, heat supply and hot water supply, domestic drinking water supply and sewerage, power supply and electric lighting, vertical transport (elevators and escalators), fire protection system.

Navigation for Simferopol Airport was developed by Artemy Lebedev Studio. Navigation features: maximum characters and minimum text. It turned out somewhat unusual, but overall it was intuitive.

There are 55 passenger and baggage check-in counters at Simferopol Airport. Of these, 52 racks are regular, and 3 are designed for oversized luggage.

The oversized baggage counters are located right in the “green wall”, which is a special point of pride for the airport.

The area of the “green wall” is about 1600 m². This structure is the largest plant wall in Europe located inside a building.
The “Green Wall” consists of living and artificial parts. At the same time, the height of the living part is 5 meters, the artificial part is 10 meters. In total, the structure is 15 meters high and 110 meters wide, which is comparable to the size of a five-story building.

The wall consists of decorative deciduous and ampelous plants, such as ferns, arrowroots, philodendrons and epipremnums. Once you move a few meters away, it is impossible to distinguish between artificial and real plants.

In total, more than 30 thousand plants are located inside the airport building.

About 2,000 people work at Simferopol Airport; by the beginning of the spring-summer season, this figure will increase to 2,100 people. The enterprise is a city-forming enterprise for the city and nearby villages.

The new terminal of Simferopol Airport has a wide network of fast food cafes. For those who have a lot of free time, there are full-service restaurants with a varied selection of dishes.
In total, the new terminal will feature more than 40 retail and catering facilities, two bank branches, a pharmacy and a beauty salon.
Let's take a look at one of the cafes called “Petrushka”.

Please note the prices:
soups 300 ml - 95 rubles, hot dishes - 95 rubles per 100 grams, salads - 85 rubles per 100 grams. Compared to other airports, you can have a meal on a budget.

Separately, I would like to note the large number of sockets between the chairs. The blocks are located between the chairs in both the general and sterile areas. Not all seats are equipped with sockets, but about a third, but I think this is enough not to be left without communication.
Not being able to charge my phones was one of my biggest struggles. This drawback has been completely eliminated.

Let's see what else there is in terms of infrastructure. At the same time, you can look at the navigation.

The mother and child room is spacious. There are separate bedrooms for younger children and slightly older children, and a separate playroom. I recommend it to everyone traveling with small children.

Navigation is duplicated for panoramic elevators.

The airport has veterinary and phytosanitary control. I have never used either one or the other, but whoever needs it is welcome.

There is a prayer room for believers.

Another prayer room is intended for Muslims. The rugs are located in the direction of Mecca, with a curtain separating the men's and women's parts.

The airport uses a domestically produced baggage handling system. The system was manufactured at a plant in Balashikha near Moscow; components were supplied from enterprises in Volgograd, Naberezhnye Chelny, the Moscow region and other cities.

The total length of the conveyor belts of the baggage system of the new terminal is about two kilometers.
The system ensures 100% inspection of departing baggage. All items handed over by passengers undergo a three-level security system before boarding the aircraft, which complies with international and Russian standards and norms.

Passengers go through the same process as at all airports. You cannot remove the security systems; I will show you the things confiscated from the passengers.

A whole container with liquids in bottles whose volume exceeds the permitted volume and a children's toy pistol. All this is prohibited for transportation by international regulations.

After passing security, passengers enter the shopping area. Forgot to buy souvenirs or just want to spend time shopping before your flight? No problem.

Souvenir shops are already selling magnets with images of the new terminal.

You can have a cold drink or a snack. It's nice that local producers have not been forgotten.

"Kroshka Potato" was spotted from the nets at the airport. As far as I know, this is the first and so far only point in Crimea.

Simferopol Airport contains the word “International” in its full name, although all flights are now operated within Russia. All the infrastructure for international flights is there, it’s just not used yet.

Boarding gates are carried out through 8 boarding bridges, which were not previously available in Simferopol, and there are also 8 exits to the platform buses.

Here, too, you can feel the hand of the Artemy Lebedev Studio employees.

The boarding bridges themselves are comfortable.

Aircraft from Rossiya Airlines, Ural Airlines, Red Wings and others were seen on the apron.

The highlight of Simferopol Airport is the open terrace on the fourth floor of the building, from where the platform is visible. Finally, the dream of aviation lovers has come true in Russia. They say that in good weather this place offers a picturesque view not only of airplanes, but also of Mount Chatyr-Dag.

These pictures were taken just from the terrace.

You can see all the details.

Any passenger flying from the airport can access the open terrace.

Next to the common terrace there is a terrace of the business lounge. There is more expensive and comfortable furniture here, you can lie out in the open air in comfortable sun loungers. But the view is exactly the same.

VIP and business lounges are equipped to all modern standards, and their design is developed taking into account the general concept of the terminal. A separate parking area and entrance to the airport are provided for VIP lounge passengers. In the business lounge you can have a snack or relax in silence.

In ordinary halls it’s also not bad at all. I would like to note the seats, made of flexible, springy and rubber-like material; it is very comfortable to sit in the chairs.

It's time to fly. Passengers of the NNN flight en route Simferopol - VashGorod, proceed to gate number 8.

Note the high galleries in front of the jet bridges. They had to be made this way in the interests of people with limited mobility. Each gallery has an elevator.

And now we are changing the route. Now we will go through the path of arriving passengers. The same navigation with a minimum of words, there are none here at all, but everything is clear. We are going towards the sun, we have arrived in Crimea.

A familiar and alluring outline.

The lucky ones who flew to Crimea receive luggage.

The bus schedule and ticket office are located right in the arrivals hall. Prices are quite reasonable, buses run quite often. In the summer they will go even more often.

Tickets can be purchased at terminals or ticket offices with cashiers.

Don’t forget to take a photo against the background of a panel with recognizable places of Crimea, the central place among which is occupied by the new airport terminal.

If you arrived at Artek, then they are already waiting for you. If not, you can go to a taxi stop, public transport, or rent a car right at the airport building. The cheapest car is a Logan with a manual transmission, it will cost 1,500 rubles per day.

What to do if your flight is canceled

If a flight is canceled more than 24 hours before departure, passengers will be transferred to similar airline flights. The carrier bears the costs; the service is free for the passenger. If you are not satisfied with any of the options offered by the airline, most airlines can issue an “involuntary return.” Once confirmed by the airline, the money will be returned to your account. Sometimes this can take several weeks.

How to check in at the airport

Online check-in is available on most airline websites. Most often it opens 23 hours before the start of the flight. You can go through it no later than 1 hour before the plane departs.

To check in at the airport you will need:

    • identification document specified in the order,
    • birth certificate when flying with children,
    • printed itinerary receipt (optional).
  • What can you take on a plane?

Carry-on luggage is the items you will take with you into the cabin. The weight limit for hand luggage can vary from 5 to 10 kg, and its size most often should not exceed the sum of three dimensions (length, width and height) from 115 to 203 cm (depending on the airline). A handbag is not considered hand luggage and is carried freely.

The bag you take with you on the plane should not contain knives, scissors, medicines, aerosols, or cosmetics. Alcohol from duty free stores can only be transported in sealed bags.

How to pay for luggage at the airport

If the weight of luggage exceeds the standards established by the airline (most often 20-23 kg), you need to pay for each kilogram of excess. In addition, many Russian and foreign airlines, as well as low-cost airlines, have tariffs that do not include free baggage allowance and must be paid separately as an additional service.

In this case, luggage must be checked in at the airport at a separate Drop-off check-in counter. If you are unable to print your boarding pass, you can obtain one at the airline's regular check-in counter, and check-in and check-in your luggage there.

Where to find out the arrival time if you are a greeter

You can find out the plane's arrival time on the airport's online board. The Tutu.ru website has an online display of the main Russian and foreign airports.

You can find out the exit number (gate) on the arrivals board at the airport. This number is located next to the incoming flight information.

The Simferopol Airport online board controls the departure and arrival of flights for today and tomorrow, takeoff and landing are indicated in local time. Display information may be delayed, although the data is synchronized with the terminal department. The site is not responsible for inaccurate information.

Simferopol Airport: online flight schedule

Do not forget that the general schedule is drawn up in advance and covers a large time interval, which affects its accuracy. The Simferopol airport display shows current information online about arrivals and departures for today, which is why the information from the online display will be the most relevant. The Simferopol airport schedule and online scoreboard will be useful for navigating flights, searching for tickets and when planning a transfer route.

Layout and infrastructure of Simferopol airport

The four-story building accommodates 55 registration counters, 8 mobile bridges, 8 approaches to passenger buses, 16 escalator mechanisms and 28 elevators. For people with disabilities, there is a barrier-free zone for convenience and comfortable service within the airport. The second floor has a security screening area and a sterile area. On the territory of the airport there are many catering establishments, bank branches, pharmacies and boutiques. Thus, passengers can receive the maximum number of services without leaving the airport terminal.

THANK YOU so much for the very useful information in the article. Everything is presented very clearly. It feels like a lot of work has been done to analyze the operation of the eBay store

    • Thank you and other regular readers of my blog. Without you, I would not be motivated enough to dedicate much time to maintaining this site. My brain is structured this way: I like to dig deep, systematize scattered data, try things that no one has done before or looked at from this angle. It’s a pity that our compatriots have no time for shopping on eBay because of the crisis in Russia. They buy from Aliexpress from China, since goods there are much cheaper (often at the expense of quality). But online auctions eBay, Amazon, ETSY will easily give the Chinese a head start in the range of branded items, vintage items, handmade items and various ethnic goods.

  • And I remembered your detailed articles about these trades. area
I re-read everything again and concluded that the courses are a scam. I haven't bought anything on eBay yet. I am not from Russia, but from Kazakhstan (Almaty). But we also don’t need any extra expenses yet.
